There have been so many things going on I have not even turned my computer on in a week.
Arkansas Return on Wednesday
I think my last post was when I returned home from Arkansas and I had shared I had been with my dad having some heart tests done. I am happy to report his heart is doing good. Think it is safe to say that stress is taking its toll on his body. I know for sure stress does terrible things to our physical bodies. I think he is probably experiencing some of those stress effects.
Thursday
The day after returning from Arkansas I had an appt with the orthopedic surgeon. It was decided that surgery was a necessity. I, in no way shape, form, or fashion, desire to have surgery. However, I’m pretty tired of hurting. I have done everything I can to avoid surgery, but now it is time to let go and get my shoulder fixed. I have lived on anti inflammatories and prednisone for quite some time now. Unfortunately, I have to come off all that medicine leading up to surgery. So this week, I will be unmedicated. This is not going to be a good week I can already tell you. I will have surgery on Monday the 18th. So this next week I will be planning and preparing to be out of commission for a little while. I will have to have some help to get through this season I know! So beware I might be calling some of you. As a matter of fact, I’ve already asked for some help! Did you all hear that…I’ve ALREADY ASKED for help??? This is evidence that I have learned some things over the past few years.
Friday-Tuesday
The very next day I picked up four Ugandan children and brought them to my home. We housed four kids from the Imani Milele Children’s Choir. We spent four days being called mom and dad by some lovely children. It was a fantastic time of pouring love into these children and allowing them to honestly be family. I’ve included some pictures for you to see some of the fun we had together. Pictures tell a thousand words right!?
The blessing of having a full heart and a full table was coupled with being exhausted. My body was worn down! It still is because there’s been no down time.
The Rest of My Week
Tuesday, when I returned them to continue their tour, I immediately took Krisann to counseling and to a dentist appointment. I followed that up with a massage which was the only quiet moments in my life for the past two weeks.
Wednesday I had two different meetings at church, Zine had Lemtrada nurse visit, Krisann had gymnastics.
Thursday Zine had to have his cath tubes changed. Conner had computer problems so I ended up at the store with his computer. Chloe had counseling and I had a pre surgical appointment to have some blood work, EKG, etc. Thursday night Zine and I slipped away for dinner and a movie with some friends. We NEVER do that! I thoroughly enjoyed being together and doing something fun. Nonetheless, Thursday was crazy busy.
Today, I taught at our homeschool cover school. Made a trip to the grocery store and pharmacy. And this evening, I have just crashed.
When I titled this post So Many Things, I was not exaggerating that there were so many things going on. Whew! And I am pretty sure I didn’t mention everything!
19..It can’t be!
My baby turned 19 this weekend! It cannot be happening. I am not this old!! My heart has hurt for him the past few weeks. Conner is my roll with the flow kid. But since being in the hospital and getting a bit behind in college, his anxiety level has been high. Not to mention, his laptop has not been being nice lately. As of Thursday, the laptop issue is fixed so I hope that relieves some of his stress.
Also, the financial aid office has been a source of much anxiety for the entire family. Today, I sent Zine with him to the financial aid office. I said I don’t care how long you have to wait but you guys are to wait and speak to the director. Conner said his stress was down some after Zine visited with them. Because we have had a drastic change in our finances since our 2015 taxes, we have had to request special consideration in the area of financial aid. No one should have to do all that we have done for special consideration. We are all beating our heads against a wall for sure. Please say prayers that we have provided everything they need and they won’t ask us to resubmit papers for the fourth time. Please let three times be the magic number!
So many things…
I have so much more I want to write. I want to share some lessons we learned from our Ugandan children, I want to share some things going on with my book writing, I want to share some emotions as it relates to several things! It’s been so long since I’ve had my computer out and I have been missing writing. However, that will all have to wait for other posts!
